As stated in ‚The Use of the Self‘ at the time Alexander used the directions or orders „Allow the neck to be free so that the head can go forward and up and the back to lengthen and widen“. Yet in November 1946 Walter Carrington states that Alexander announced to people training and other teachers that “he had decided that we must cut out in future teaching all instructions to order the neck to relax or to be free, because such orders only lead to other forms of doing.”
In this two day workshop we will explore how different people interpret the original directions in different ways and start to explore what Alexander put in place of his original directions after 1946 and how he changed everything again in the 1950’s.
This will be a practical hands-on workshop! Please bring an open mind and a willingness to discover for yourself the effects when you think in new ways of about Alexander’s directions!
